It Takes Courage to Reach Out...

If you’ve been affected by someone else’s addiction/alcoholism, I provide a safe, compassionate space to share your story and learn new ways to help yourself and those you love. Addiction is a major source of stress and family/relationship difficulty.  I know the far-reaching affects of addiction and offer Hope, Healing, and Health…

Do you recognize yourself in any of the following statements:

  • I have lied to cover up for my addiction or addicted loved one

  • I feel shame about my loved one's addiction/behaviors

  • I feel isolated from friends and family who wouldn't understand my life

  • I feel uneasy about sharing, fearing the stigma and judgement

  • I have trouble sleeping and focusing during the day

  • I struggle with broken trust and don't know how I ever will

  • I feel stressed out about the situation and don’t know what to do

  • I have tried everything to control the situation, yet it doesn't change

  • I want help but don't know how to reach out and ask someone

If you do, and you are the spouse, partner, parent, sibling, concerned friend of an Addict or Alcoholic, or if you grew up in an Alcoholic/Addicted home… Let's work together to uncover, discover, and recover from difficult relationship(s) that leave you feeling alone, angry, or afraid. Addiction (in it’s many forms) creates challenging relationship dynamics and as human beings we are wired for connection.

Personally and Professionally, I understand the challenges of addiction and the difficulties of loving someone with an addiction. Together, we can talk about what has caused the suffering, look at the reality of the situation, work on changing what can be changed, accept what can't be changed, and find within the innate strengths and resources for the journey. Addiction is "cunning, baffling, and powerful", and we are no match for it on our own. With this understanding, we know deeply in our being, that reaching out and revealing ourselves in a safe place is as necessary as the air we breath.

More often than not, addiction occurs in conjunction with other mental health issues. I am a dual-diagnosis practitioner that offers comprehensive individual and couples counseling, with a wealth of experience including Intensive Outpatient Counseling (Chemical Dependency) and Family Program Professional at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.

I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it...
